September 14 - 15, 2023, Dobrna
The event is closed:
The Slovenian Society of Neurosurgery and the Slovenian Association for Intensive Care Medicine, in cooperation with the Institute for Applied Research in Medical Rehabilitation, organized the most thorough review of the treatment of head injury victims - from treatment in the field, in the emergency room, intensive care unit, and all the way to rehabilitation.
MEETING PROGRAM
14 September 2023
The first day is dedicated to the comprehensive treatment of a patient with a head injury at all stages, from the incident to the final discharge to home care or a care facility. It is intended for first responders in the field, staff in emergency clinics and teams in hospitals who encounter victims with mild, moderate and severe head injuries. The lecturers are experts in their fields and have several years or several decades of experience in this field. We will review the holistic treatment of the patient, from the event itself, primary and secondary care, intensive treatment, ward therapy and finally the rehabilitation of the patient. The aim is to unify the care of people with head injuries and to learn as much as possible from each other.

15 September 2023
The second day is dedicated to surgical and intensive care at secondary and tertiary levels. We will discuss the most common pathologies and the basics of surgical and intensive care for head injury victims. Lecturers will present individual topics and include the latest literature and recommendations in the care of basic pathologies, from chronic subdural hematomas to decompressive craniectomies. We will consider decisions about sedation and subsequent withdrawal of sedation in patients, as well as anticonvulsant and antithrombotic protection. The aim is to update our knowledge with the latest findings and, at the end of the round table, to include these topics in the new Slovenian recommendations for the treatment of victims with severe head injuries.
